Varsity Head Coach & GBS Hockey Director

Jimmy Philbin, a dedicated coach with 30 years of experience at Glenbrook South High School, is a true legend in the world of high school hockey. Having led his team to 2 state championships, Coach Philbin's commitment to excellence earned him a well-deserved spot in the Illinois Hockey Hall of Fame in 2022. His coaching philosophy places a strong emphasis on values such as family, tradition, and work ethic, instilling in his players not just the skills to excel on the ice but also the virtues that extend beyond the rink. With a personal responsibility approach and a focus on teamwork, Coach Philbin has played a pivotal role in the development of GBS players, who often credit him with imparting life's greatest lessons through the sport. His own experiences as a college-level hockey player adds depth and authenticity to his coaching, making him an inspirational figure both on and off the ice.
